  • Growing fast

Everything’s going well on the home front. The baby is growing and thriving – new little developments every day… as it should be.  She sleeps through the night and is pretty happy most of the time so it’s pretty easy and nice considering the amount of work required.
The garden is growing well too. We have two horseradish plants growing well, one blueberry bush made it from last year and sports a healthy handful of berries. My flowers are starting to bloom. Asparagus is doing well (but won’t be edible till next year).  My mother promises to try to get me some plum tree babies and some blueberry suckers we’re going to try to plant here.  We had some chard at our cookout last night.  And here… our prized artichoke plant!  Husband worked hard to get a seed to sprout. They don’t always grow true from seed, but out of 3 or 4 seed packets, we got a winner and have eaten a couple already. We’ll try to divide this plant at some point so we can keep things going.  Isn’t it a lovely plant?

More news?  We have officially seen the dawning of the age of Aquarius!!! When I watched Hair as a kid, I thought it was already here (damn Fifth Dimension sounding the trumpet early).  Now, though, we’re in it! So I’m hopeful for brighter days for our planet… especially as I learn more about the atrocities that our country (among others of course) has committed.

Hopefully I’ll be better at making the rounds, photographing my creative ventures (which haven’t stopped by a long shot!) and showing off my super bad garden in the days to come as the tiny one requires less hands on care.

    Onward and upward!

  • A wonderful shot of the artichoke — they’re thistles, and they’re like weeds here!  The rest of your garden sounds wonderful too (including the kidlet, too)!

  • @slmret - I’m hoping once we get a patch established, it’ll be there for the long haul. Artichokes are hard to find in good condition and a reasonable price at the store. How are you doing?

  • I’m glad things are going so well, : )

  • @oceanstarr - They’re one of my favorites here!  So glad you could get them to grow!  I’m doing well, thank you — now that the stairs are finally finished, I’m about to make a quilt for my new grandnephew (due next week), and reorganizing my life again!  And the sun’s out, so I’m doing much better!

  • @slmret - I want to make a quilt again one day.  Crochet is the project I’m on now though so who knows when that will be… The sun makes a HUGE difference in my happiness level as well.
@plantinthewindow - Me too… I miss keeping up with everyone here!  I’ve been thinking about you (of course… I ponder the painting constantly! lol).  How’s life treating you these days?

  • That is a beautiful plant. you sound happy. I’m glad.

  • @oceanstarr - yay about the painting.  I was wondering about it, but refused to bother you about it. : P  things are going well.  I love the warm weather and sunshine.

  • so that’s how an artichoke plant looks like… i love the leaves, so vibrant :)

  • Glad to hear all is going well!  I’m off to google this ‘age of Aquarius’ thing…I’ve never heard of it before.

  • Yes, a lovely plant.

  • Fresh artichokes – what a treat! I look forward to seeing how everything in your part of the world grows in the months ahead.

  • Sooner or later the baby will have teething pains and will not be sleeping well. I suppose you are using disposable diapers because sometimes the stains are so hard to wash out.(making it not that ecological to use cloth diapers).

Yes asparagus takes more than a year to get established but once established continue to provide asparagus in the spring. Both the asparagus and artichokes take up a lot of space but they don’t require much maintainance.

  • WoW! Neato looking artichoke plant. Glad it’s going well for everyone. Still wanna see some growing-up-pics of the kidlet though…

  • The artichoke is a fantasy plant for our climate. I would so love to be able to grow them here. It is good to hear from you. Miss you!

  • thanks for stopping by. I really believe your laughing photo with Seren should go on the front of one of those baby mags, like Baby Talk. It needs sharing – it’s what life is all about. That you found humor, at a time that can be so hectic, worrisome, painful – you’re just beautiful.

Gardening has fallen off for me, for now, but I did put some baby tomatoes in pots yesterday. ;)

  • @ordinarybutloud - Thank you
@plantinthewindow - Yes.  The painting continues. It takes a while… I want it to be just right. Did some more research yesterday and am on a new direction with it.  It’s evolving nicely.
@wretched_epiphany - Go watch Hair if you never have (70′s musical).  It’s an important part of our cultural heritage!
@scifiknitter - Everything is going so nicely these days   I’m working on taking more pics of Tiny, but husband and I are not real keen on sharing her face too much… not paranoid, we just have too many things going on to document everything we think is awesome lol. I’m sure you understand, but she is growing fast and I have a pic I’m putting up shortly.  I hope your world is beautiful too!
@PPhilip - We’re actually using cloth diapers – not for environmental reasons, for cash reasons. It’s just so much cheaper and we have no diaper rash.  I’ve heard arguments on both sides regarding the environmental impact of cloth diapers or disposables.
@armnatmom - I won’t ever post many of her, but I will from time to time.  Her father will be incredibly irritated if I put her all over the web… She is growing so fast though! It’s awesome!
@Aloysius_son - So I’m fulfilling your fantasy… This makes me smile
@Owain_Gwynedd - There have definitely been some tough moments, but mostly, life has been really happy since Tiny joined us.  I’m lucky to have such a great family… no… not just lucky… I cut out the ones who couldn’t play nice lol.  I’m glad you enjoyed the photo.
