Feedback please!
So… a couple people have said they want to buy a print of my girl’s first painting. I’m thinking of making it about 8″x8″ and charging $25 with shipping (envelope and postage combines to about $5). Does it seem fair if I put half in a bank account for her and use the other half to keep us in paints and other art materials? I feel a little weird selling her art when she’s just 14 months old, but, at the same time, if people want to buy it, I hate to deprive them.
Feedback please! I won’t be offended by anything you say. It’s all going to help me think about the best, good, right thing to do.

That sounds really good. Investing when she’s young means a lot of years of interest. Investing in paints etc. means she’ll have a lifetime of artistic creativity.
I say go for it. By the time she’s three she’ll have an impressive portfolio and a great client base.
Your daughter’s 1st painting that she did, or one u did? I’m confused
@armnatmom - The one she did – from that photo of her at the easel.
No way, do it! It will be a cool thing to tell her when she is older and then she can also say she sold her art and her mom was kind enough to put that money into a bank account for her.
I think it sounds very fair!
I think its a great Idea and quite fair
I say go for it, it sounds like a wonderful deal. What kid wouldn’t be thrilled to later discover her parents had put back for her and made a way for something wonderful in her life when she is older.
Whatever you decide, take some good shots of the work — first art piece sold at 14 months old!
Would be a super keepsake.
You don’t really need to ask our permission to do what seems fair to you, do you? You have a strong sense of ethics, and whatever you do will be the right thing.
Awesome painting, BTW! (I saw it on FB). Your daughter looks very happy and proud.
@oceanstarr - SWEET!!!! Go for it.
of course it’s okay.
absolutely okay. she’ll be thrilled in later years.
Sounds like a wonderful plan to me!! :)
If someone wants to buy it.Sell it. And you are not even talking about the original! Let her make her first money with her art before she can walk. You have the right idea about the proceeds, too. You know how to do this.
If you are selling prints of the painting then I don’t see any problems with it.
If you were planning to sell the actual painting itself then I’m not so sure how I’d feel about that.
