Artist Holiday?
We had a good holiday here. Unfortunately, I didn’t get any good holiday-like photos because my camera’s battery died on me. We just had a quiet time… a nice dinner with friends before Christmas. My father @C_L_O_G came by for Christmas day and we had a great time going out for dim sum and playing with the baby (and watching her play with ribbons, bows, and pretty paper). She’s getting into the toys now lol…
Aside from that, painting continued as always. I have to get on some commission work now and finish up the Stained Glass collection to take for the grand opening of Artifactia in Bearden on Jan 12th. I promise good photos of that event.
Another recent painting on distressed plywood.
I have to admit it can be a little awkward to be a non-Christmas celebrator. I’m not opposed to Christmas in any way, but I don’t get into it either. One person I bumped into asserted that my baby would revive the Christmas spirit in me… Yeah… well… not so much. I like seeing her happy, but I can buy pretty paper and ribbon for her to play with any day. I don’t celebrate overconsumption of goods or food. Our family celebrates our togetherness daily. So I just don’t feel like Christmas is any different than any other day I’m lucky enough to have coffee and people around me whom I love… except I can’t go to the grocery store easily if I run out of something lol…
Oh well. Another Christmas is passed and I can look forward to the days getting longer again. That’s the awesomest!
Onward and upward and may you all be blessed in the new year!By the way, @roadkill_spatula did receive the Xanga-gift painting
Thank you all again for participating in the gifting with me! May Tim and Alicia’s fairy tale continue!

that was a good thing to do, to let others give and assist with the cost of the gift to Tim and Alicia. you are a kind soul.
I hope the grand opening goes well. I’m looking forward to hearing about it.
I hear you about Christmas – I go along for the ride because my family wants me to be there, but enjoying family is about it for me.
Very glad you had an enjoyable time with jr.
Christmas is far to over rated. I celebrate Christmas but we tone it down for it is for me more a time of being aware of the value of life in general. The biggest give we can give to those close to us is our love.
Yes, thanks to all of you who gave us the painting! It hangs in our dining room right now. I plan to post about it but haven’t had time to upload photos and stuff.
I personally love Christmas for its meaning and for the family celebrations and for the music and stories and gifts and food and some of the decor. I hate hate hate going shopping anytime between Thanksgiving and the New Year. Hate it.
@plantinthewindow - I quit playing Christmas pretty much when I moved out for the last, grown-up time. My mother will come up this weekend so the baby gets to have grandparent fun.
@Zeal4living - I agree totally. Happy new year my friend. Happiness, health and prosperity to you and yours!
@Roadkill_Spatula - I just don’t shop when I can avoid it. I do like the pretty lights and holiday aromas around Christmas. And it’s nice to see other people when they get lit up by the holiday spirit. I try to live that way all the time when I can muster it and I meet more smiles around the holiday.
Never would think less of you for celebrating, or not, whichever way you see fit. Love how you inserted the coffee comment in here though…
I can’t live without my coffee for sure!
This was my Grinchiest year ever. And boy did it feel good.
That nest is amazing, so very colorful :3
I had a great time. At lunch I felt just like little Ralphie from the Christmas Story. roflmao
Great art as always!
I celebrate Christmas but I don’t celebrate it… I haven’t had a tree for quite a few years now. I usually work a lot more over Christmas holidays so it’s become more of a working holiday for me. Look forward to seeing more of your wonderful art!
Beautiful painting! It was great to hear from Roadkill about their wedding gift. So happy to be a part of that! I loved Christmas because we got so much time off work and I got to see my grandmother, aunt, uncle, cousins, brother, sister-in-law, niece. I could have as easily done that at any other time of the year (except for the free vacation days). I’m also a sucker for the more classical/traditional music. My position is growing more and more chill, but I still enjoy the tradition and the gift giving, etc.
