  • VLOG The First

I know this is all I ever seem to say, but life is insane and amazing. We’re really getting things together at the house – the remodel is making progress and I’m still selling paintings which is always a relief.  Art business can come and go with the weather.  I’m planning another show for First Friday December. I don’t usually show this frequently, but I have an opportunity that is not to be passed up and it is a lot of fun.  It’s also totally unknowable as to how long the little one will be cool with going to work with me like that.

Husband and I rearranged a lot of the living space today to make more space for S as she gets more determined to walk about (still with help) and squirm all over the place.

Also… I can share with you… a bit of video I did for a documentary. I don’t know when it’ll come out and I owe the guy a essay already… but I thought some of you might be amused to see me like… moving around and stuff. Don’t feel like you’ll hurt my feelings if you don’t watch it…

  • I watched it and it was great :)

  • your life is always enjoyable to watch, from this side of my laptop.  my sound is all screwed-up, so I can’t listen to you speak.  I’ll have to wait to get to a different computer.

I’m glad you’re selling so many of your paintings!

  • I detect the southern accent in your voice, but it is also close to the standard mid west speech that is common too. Pretty soon you will miss the crawler and wish for S not to get all over the place.

Pushing art is something that for sure you enjoy and love. Unfortunately when a recession hits sales will decline on stuff that is not a necessity. However I sense that a lot of people still do a lot of shopping this year. How much people will spend will be the big question mark.
How is your husband’s solar projects going? Someone on xanga is thinking about survival tools and solar usage would be a handy survivalist tool.
My parrot is doing well, I worry if he eats enough and it is hard to tell if you are overfeeding a bird or not. I hope your bird is doing well, I haven’t seen a mention of your bird in a while.

  • Hey Ocean Any news from you is good news its good to hear you are making some sense of the chaos – keep up the good work and progress. Best of luck with your paintings. Thanks for the link – will take a look

  • This is an excellent beginning vlog! It would draw me into the gallery if I were in the area!

  • For someone who looked weak, you sure got a powerful voice!!!

  • Amazing video. I loved this. Your voice is deeper than I imagined. It’s always great to see you in action and finally be able to actually hear you. Of course, you know I got a kick out of seeing the baby. She’s growing!! Is she always this quiet and peaceful as she was in the video? I can’t ever remember a time when my kids were that quiet, or still for that matter…

  • @armnatmom - She is pretty much always this cool and groovy.  She’s just chilling out playing quietly beside me on the couch right now.  She’s just my little pal.  She’s about 25 pounds now.  I thought you might get a kick out of the clip :)
@RulerofMasons - Thank you – years of lecturing in a large room
@slmret - Thank you. I’m still a little self conscious about it
@plantinthewindow - I like that I can share things here without everyone in the world seeing it. I’m not hiding but most folks don’t know I have this blog. The best thing about selling all those paintings is that now I can paint as much as I want to build the stock back fresh!  It’s marvelous!
    @xdeelynnx - Thank you
@PPhilip - I grew up in Alabama, but my mother was pretty strict about not using too much of the regional dialect. I also honed my dialect to fit my audience better when I taught college.
I’ve sold art off and on for about 15 years so I’ve seen a lot of highs and lows. Fortunately, I can do other things to pay the bills as well as the market changes. This is just what’s working well right now.

  • I enjoyed the video…I’d love to stop by the gallery and check it out!  Love the very slight southern accent.

  • i LOVED seeing you and hearing you!!!!

  • yay! so cool to see you and the babe :) cool to see you in the gallery space, too, and talking about it; thank you!

  • Eeeee heeheeheeheeehee I love your American Southern accent!!!!  I love that little twang that I hear!  I wish I got to hear that more where I live, but it’s nearly impossible for me to come across a voice/accent like that!!! Now I’ve got a high adrenaline rush from knowing that I know someone with such a cool accent! Ee hehehehe love it!
