Anticipating Spring
So I feel a little silly about making those wool scarves this month… It’s not winter. I’m not seeing any winter… sigh…
The warm weather has caused flowers to bloom in my brain. Here in Knoxville, we have the Dogwood Arts Festival in spring some time and I’m always late painting dogwoods. Not this year!
Impression of Spring
Acrylic on wood
16″x22″Pink Dogwoods
Acrylic on Canvas
16″x20″
This one may be about the end of the stained glass series for a while. I’ll do some more when I get some boards that are the aspect ratio I want, but for now, I’m thinking spring flowersNote to self… don’t forget to actually get into the festival… lol
You paper mache makers and magnet makers are making me feel like a slacker. I gotta kick it up a notch I reckon before you folks take my job!

Those look great. The dogwoods were in bloom in April 2010 when my dad died, so I associate them with him.
This is so beautiful and put a smile in my heart just remembering what is coming not to far away. Just have to get through the stark beauty of the winter.
My wife starts talking about Spring when Winter starts. lol She loves it when the mall stores start showing Spring and Summer clothing.
Love your dogwood pictures. I keep looking at my few pathetic roses outside—I almost take a photo so my viewers can see them in their worst state. lol
Hope you are having a good week,
frank
Much can still happen. In the meantime, stay dry.
your dogwoods are beautiful! i’m watching the snow come down as i write, and i would send you some, but i’m selfish and want it all for myself

Pretty pictures! =)
If California weather comes by you on its way east, winter is coming! But I do love your impressions of spring!
I find it inspirational that you continue to pursuit your passions. As for the scarves, I think it’s good that made them regardless. A good way to spend some spare time.
gosh this are so amazingly beautiful! lovely tones :3
Ooh! love the first one, especially : )
Nice dogwood paintings!!!
the first one is wondermous. both are excellent, but the first just tickles my fancy. no price on it?
@plantinthewindow - I just don’t usually put the prices on here – it’s $155
Love these two you showed us! I can feel the spring down here. Heard on the news SNOW is heading your way TONIGHT!
love ‘em both.
Those are beautiful. Your paintings are so bold. I love that about them.
These are great! The first one looks a lot like the back piece I’m wanting to have done.
Beautiful.
Knoxville? I didn’t realize we are almost neighbors. My nephew attends college there.
I enjoy how your paintings have textured, multi-colored backgrounds. How do you do that?
Kudos on getting the jumpstart on the dogwoods this year. lovely. Both nice, but the 2nd one is my fav with the huge flowers.
dogwoods remind me of Easter, yours are beautiful! You might want to get one of your scarves ready for tonight…looks like a wintery mix coming your way. I googled the Dogwood Festival, it looks like a GREAT show!
@Roadkill_Spatula - I don’t know why I am really drawn to them… Those and redbuds mean spring/rebirth for me
Makes it real to watch
I love this style so much!
@Grannys_Place - Thank you so much. I’m living in anticipation right now. We are going to have a little cold after all
@ANVRSADDAY - I wear the same clothes year round myself – just different layers. St Patrick’s Day stuff is out already here. I enjoy the way you take so many photos of your adventures
@vexations - No sooner did I post about non-winter, but the snow appeared in the forecast! I’m staying in the house today for sure!
@lifeontheWink - I don’t mind missing snow for sure! I’m staying in my cozy little house until this ickiness passes if I can manage it.
@things_with_wings_07 - Thank you
@slmret - Yes – winter has appeared on my horizon for at least this week. brrr…. Staying in the cozy house for now!
@nov_way - I never regret making scarves. They make good gifts regardless of whether I wear them.
@meddwl - Thank you so much!
@anvilsandedelweiss - Thank you
@lonelywanderer2 - Thank you!
@armnatmom - I will be hiding in my house and pretending snow doesn’t exist hehe
@promisesunshine - Thank you!
@ordinarybutloud - Thank you! I don’t know how to be subtle I suppose lol
Is he at UTK?
@chronic_masticator - mmmm… I’m looking forward to getting my back piece started myself. Just have to get some time/money/childcare lol
@Inciteful - Oh really?
@Crystalinne - I apply tissue to the surface before I start painting – sometimes I use textured mediums or textiles. It makes it feel more organic when I use the tissue though. Thanks a lot
@mlbncsga - I will be hiding in my cozy, warm house while the winter happens if I can. I have lots of good Easter memories from my childhood. Maybe that’s part of why I keep going back to these particular flowers. Believe it or not, I’ve never participated in the Dogwood Festival. I should do that.
Awesome =)
Yes, Wants to be a pharmacist.
@Inciteful - Sounds like a good field to be in these days.
I love dogwoods. I had a terrible time getting one to flourish in my yard, but now I have two; the first one has begun sprouting babies and we transplanted one to the other side of the front of the house. They are a pretty tree for every season. I can never make up my mind as to whether I like the white or the pink ones better!
