Thanksgiving
What is Thanksgiving at my house? Well, since I moved away from my family, I’ve done less and less for any holiday. I don’t care for the adventure and hassle and no day seems any more special to me than any other. I’m equally happy to be alive just about any old day…
I was planning to go to a turkey day dinner at the gallery I’ve been showing at, but decided not to bother with it… I just have so much work to do… Commissions to paint, plots to scheme, websites to recode, writing to complete… Of course I pick to do this much work. I don’t like sitting around twiddling my proverbial thumbs. If I can possibly be productive with my time, I prefer that.
This is the piece I finished today – 10.5″x21″ on wood
Butterfly Over Stained Glass

I like the idea of no hullabaloo for holidays. the only think I really like is seeing family I haven’t seen in a long time.
I really really like this painting. !
indeed, tis a lovely painting
(i kind of thought you might be working.)
That’s a wonderful painting, Starr!
I love the detail in the butterfly. Great job.
I really like this one. It must be painful to put yourself into a work, then have someone take it away forever.
beautiful…
Artwork mimics nature but yeah there is the artistic interpretation. Looks like you made thanksgiving productive.
Last year I was in Germany for Thanksgiving and it was the best non-holiday celebrating ever. This year I caught up on earlier Guillermo del Toto movies and lost myself in those wonderful visuals.
great post,happy thanksgiving.
beautiful.
It appears to me that this painting is about giving thanks.
@plantinthewindow - Thank you. I did see some long-absent family recently and it was good. I’ve actually taken a few days “off” this month and did things for my heartstuff.
@Bels_Kaylar - Of course I was working! Muahahahaha… Wait till you see what I’ve got on the easel now!
@slmret - Thank you very much
@chronic_masticator - Thank you!
@Inciteful - Your comment actually made me think pretty hard. I’ve been selling my art for about 15 years now… Selling or giving a painting is kind of like any other communication for me at this point. Your words contributed to today’s blog. Thanks for the food for thought.
@tribong_upos - Thank you
@PPhilip - I try to make every day productive if I can
@Lenore_Happenstance - Yes… I will spend the next month or so running away from Christmas songs lol… I may even reprogram my car radio to not play the stations that go Xmas all the time.
I’d love to be in a different cultural situation for the winter holiday cycle
@dreamrocker8184 - Thank you
@promisesunshine - Thank you
@feedwaterclean - I think most of my work is about celebrating my continued survival. I’m just really glad to be alive heh… Sounds awful cheesy I guess
